During recent discussions, it became clear that the existing outfit was ready for an update. Not because comfort or appearance were lacking, but because the mineral fertiliser sector is constantly evolving. New processes and new risks require new insights.

That is why Van Moer and EuroChem jointly carried out an updated risk analysis. This analysis formed the basis for a new clothing package that perfectly matches the daily reality on site.

Based on Van Moer’s expertise, new fabrics were proposed that provide the necessary protection against the risks present in the production environment.

But safety alone is not enough. Wearing comfort remains essential for employees who give their full commitment every day.

That is why both parties selected materials that:

A clothing package stands or falls with proper testing. That is why the selected fabrics and trimmings were thoroughly tested for durability, wear and industrial maintenance.
The washing and wear tests confirmed exactly what we aimed to achieve: garments that are not only safe and comfortable, but also have a longer lifespan.

Challenge

Safety and uniformity in the workplace.

The employees of De Waal Solid Foundations NV work every day in high-risk environments, where safety is always the top priority. For some projects, flame-retardant clothing is required, while other locations demand protection against chemical substances. Because employees often work outdoors, the clothing also needs to withstand rain, wind and other weather conditions. In addition, some colleagues perform welding tasks, which require extra protection against welding sparks.

The challenge for Van Moer was to provide workwear that combines all these requirements while also ensuring a uniform appearance, allowing the employees of De Waal Solid Foundations NV to be easily recognised across different construction and work sites.

In 2021, Van Moer first came into contact with De Waal through a phone conversation with their prevention advisor. This initial discussion led to further meetings to jointly develop a solution that would meet both the required safety standards and the specific needs of De Waal.

What’s the future?

Looking ahead, both parties are working on further optimising the ordering and confirmation process. As a first step, the clothing package is now being expanded to include rainwear.

In the longer term, discussions are ongoing about transferring stock management to Van Moer. At present, De Waal Solid Foundations NV still manages its own inventory, but the company would also like to be relieved of this responsibility.
